However, options such as medication often fall short in improving cognitive function and are instead used principally to control behavioral symptoms of the disease.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PEMF therapy may help to fill this gap as an effective modality for improving cognitive and memory function by stimulating cellular activity in the brain.<\/span><\/p><h2><b>What the Research Says<\/b><\/h2><ul><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A 2016 <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/27258417\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">review<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by Dr. Gary D. Arendash, published in the Journal of Alzheimer\u2019s Disease, writes, \u201cWe have demonstrated in multiple studies that daily, long-term electromagnetic field (EMF) treatment in the ultrahigh frequency range not only protects Alzheimer\u2019s disease (AD) transgenic mice from cognitive impairment, but also reverses such impairment in aged AD mice.\u201d The paper concludes: \u201cBased on a diversity of pre-clinical studies from our laboratory in collaboration with others, the neuromodulatory approach of [electromagnetic field therapy] appears to offer unique, disease-modifying potential that could limit or reverse AD memory loss.\u201d <\/span><\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-274c290 elementor-widget elementor-widget-image\" data-id=\"274c290\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"image.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" width=\"356\" height=\"512\" src=\"https:\/\/masyphn.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/graph.png\" class=\"attachment-large size-large wp-image-6755\" alt=\"graph\" srcset=\"https:\/\/masyphn.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/graph.png 356w, https:\/\/masyphn.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/graph-209x300.png 209w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 356px) 100vw, 356px\" \/>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f72d1d5 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"f72d1d5\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A 2022 <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mdpi.com\/2305-6320\/9\/8\/42\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">clinical trial<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> further supported Arendash\u2019s research by monitoring the cognitive performance of eight Alzheimer\u2019s patients who received daily in-home <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">electromagnetic treatment for a period of 2.5 years. The therapy appeared to stop the cognitive decline in these patients, as the paper concludes: \u201cResults suggest that [electromagnetic therapy] can stop the cognitive decline of AD over a period of at least 2.5 years and can do so with no safety issues.\u201d<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><br \/><\/span><\/li><li aria-level=\"1\"><span>Results from a 2017<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC5434238\/\"><span> study<\/span><\/a><span> demonstrated that \u201cLF-PEMF can stimulate an epigenetic regulation mediated by miRNAs, which would lead to a rebalancing of the pathways&#8217; deregulation occurring in [Alzheimer\u2019s disease].\u201d The results suggest that \u201cthe electromagnetic fields at low frequencies, if properly used, may be useful for the treatment of patients with AD, as suggested by the results of pilot experiments with deep brain stimulation via EMFs.\u201d<\/span><\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-83d3aa1 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"83d3aa1\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">PEMF as Supplementation<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-107ea1e elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"107ea1e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Several studies have shown that PEMF can be especially effective when used in conjunction with patients\u2019 other treatments, such as prescription medication or physical therapy. Additionally, as a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/masyphn.com\/blog\/non-drug-option-for-pain-management\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">non-drug option<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, it may be preferred by patients and physicians who want to avoid the risks of dependency or other <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/masyphn.com\/blog\/pemf-therapy-side-effects\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">side effects<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of medication.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A 2020 <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/pii\/S0753332220309604\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">medical review<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in Biomedicine &amp; Pharmacotherapy wrote that \u201cIncreasing evidence suggests that this noninvasive, safe and effective therapy might be a promising adjuvant for treating various musculoskeletal disorders.\u201d Researchers concluded that \u201cConsiderable studies have explored the underlying cellular and subcellular mechanisms of PEMF stimulation on various musculoskeletal diseases, providing a molecular basis for extending its clinical application.\u201d<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a separate <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC7297361\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">systematic review<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from 2020, researchers noted the growing body of evidence that \u201celectromagnetic field therapy relieves pain and improves function in patients with various pain musculoskeletal diseases. Electromagnetic field therapy is well tolerated with no reported negative side effects in the analyzed studies.
